Airspace

  1. All airspace from the SFC up to but not including FL240 (or FL600 when High Area Sectors are closed) within the lateral limits of the sector as depicted on the Sector Diagram excluding any TRACON airspace.
  2. Shall assume control of the following TRACONS when the sectors are not manned
    1. Seymour Johnson RAPCON
    2. Raleigh Durham TRACON
    3. Fayetteville TRACON
    4. Wilmington Approach Control

Arrival Routing

Raleigh-Durham (RDU) TRACON

  1. BRADE 4, cross BRADE at 11,000
    Handoff to RDU_E_APP (124.95) prior to BRADE
  2. BUZZY 5, cross BUZZY at 11,000
    Handoff to “Raleigh Approach” RDU_W_APP (128.3) prior to BUZZY

Norfolk (ORF) TRACON

  1. DRONE 1 arrival, cross DEENE at FL210

Handoff to “Washington Center” DC_D_CTR (135.50) prior to DEENE

Fayetteville (FAY) TRACON

  1. RDU V136 FAY, cross LANHO at 10,000
    Handoff to “Fayetteville Approach” FAY_APP (T.B.D)
  2. V39 SDZ, cross SDZ at 10,000
    Handoff to “Fayetteville Approach” FAY_APP (T.B.D)

Handoff to “Washington Center” DC_E_CTR (124.05) at cruise altitude
If able, provide at least 10 MIT between each aircraft on the same arrival

Handoffs

TRACON’s within ZDC

Place all handoff requests at least 20nm and 5000ft prior to the aircraft leaving your sector to be sure that the TRACON is able to accept the aircraft

Center sectors within ZDC

Place all handoff requests at least 15nm prior to the aircraft leaving your sector to be sure the receiving facility can accept the aircraft

Neighboring Center sectors (ZTL, ZJX)

Place all handoff requests at least 50nm prior to the aircraft leaving your sector to be sure the receiving facility can accept the aircraft

Transfer of communication

The transfer of communication shall occur at least 5nm and 1000ft from the end of your sector. You must be sure that the aircraft has sufficient time to contact the next controller prior to leaving your airspace.

Unless coordinated with the next sector, all aircraft must be at 1X prior to the transfer of communication.
